Following a rigorous assessment and compliance process, SAFECROWDS GROUP has been accepted onto the NCTAS-P programme, confirming our proven track record and experience in the canine explosives detection sector.

SAFECROWCROWDS GROUP was already a NASDU (National Association of Security Dog Users) company member, and we consistently adhere to the association’s high standards of animal welfare and training, working to the BS 8517-1: 2016 code of practice for general purpose dogs and the BS 8517-2: 2016 code of practice for detection dogs. Now, with our explosives detection dog teams deployed at various stadiums, venues and events, our handlers have either completed or are undergoing their NCTAS-P assessment, enabling us to be accepted onto the NCTAS-P programme.

What is NCTAS-P?

Since 1 January 2020, it has been mandatory for all police EDD teams to be trained and accredited to the National Canine Training and Accreditation Scheme (NCTAS). Launched in March 2021, NCTAS-P is a comparable standard specifically for private security companies for the search of building, areas, routes, vehicles (not for searching and screening people).

Developed as a collaborative initiative between the Home Office, Counter Terrorism Policing and the National Protective Security Authority (NPSA), this standard recognises the important role of security specialists such as SAFECROWDS GROUP in improving resilience and mitigating the threat of explosive devices, particularly in high risk environments, such as stadiums and major events. It also provides an mark of professionalism, competency and animal welfare that underpins quality assurance.

Delivering the highest standards

SAFECROWDS GROUP has been working towards becoming accepted onto the NCTAS-P programme for some time, which means that our training processes, animal welfare standards and best practice when carrying out explosives searches have always been aligned to high NCTAS-P standards. Although NCTAS-P applies only to explosive detection canine teams, we also align all our other canine services to those standards and industry best practice too, ensuring that all our dogs are expertly trained and cared for, with plenty of exercise, rest time and affection, and all our handlers are experienced and professional.

Why choose canine explosives detection from SAFECROWDS GROUP?
